Every Wednesday Crime-reader publishes an article featuring a crime that has been, or is currently being reported in the news. Today’s article focuses on the story of an Alabama man who confessed to killing his girlfriend, and attempting to burn her remains.
According to Etowah County Sheriff Jonathan Horton, on Christmas Eve 2020 32-year-old, Ace Antonio Pierre Belcher called police at approximately 7:58 p.m. Belcher reported that he had found his girlfriend, a 50-year-old woman by the name of Traci Melvin Wileman laying on the floor of their home on 10th street in Altoona, Alabama.

Altoona Police would be the first responder’s on the scene, when they arrived to the to the couples residence Traci Wileman was found dead at the scene. Due to unusual circumstances found at the scene of Traci’s death Altoona Police chief Eric Doran called the Etowah county sheriff’s office, to investigate the crime scene.
Investigators managed to obtain a search warrant before midnight, working until the early morning hours of Christmas day searching for clues inside the couple’s residence.
While in police custody Belcher confessed to being in an argument with Traci, the dispute quickly escalated turning physical leading to her death. Upon realizing that Traci was dead Belcher attempted to dispose of Traci’s body by trying to burn her remains.
Traci’s Body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Huntsville, for an autopsy. The Etowah County Sheriffs office, along with the Atonna Police Department continue the investigation with plans to attend Wilemon’s autopsy examination and discover Traci’s cause of death.
